The Menu of Mau Dich So 37
Your bill at the end is presented in these papers, reminiscent of the food rations. Each food order is written in these and presented to you at the end. Add the amount in these pieces and that's what you pay.
Old Things and Pictures on the Restaurant Walls
Here's an interesting display that evokes many stories from those who still remember those days of food booklets. I was with a Vietnamese friend for lunch at the restaurant and she pointed that out to me.
At that time, my friend recounted from the stories of her mother and sister, at the beginning of each month, families bring their food booklets and they are given their share of the meat, rice, vegetables and other food essentials. Everything is recorded in this booklet. In this picture, old currency used are also displayed.
Some of the food served in the restaurant
My favourite is the fresh spring roll. I always associated spring roll with rice paper. These ones are not wrapped. The ingredients are just tied together. The sauce in this restaurant for the spring roll is one of the best I have ever tasted.
