Cambodia Celebrates Independence Day
On November 9, Cambodia celebrates its 57 years of Independence from 90 years of French colonial rule. Around 2000 people gathered at the Independence Monument to celebrate the event. The King of Cambodia laid a wreath and ignited the flame inside the Monument’s central canopy.
In the evening, more people came to view the fireworks. |

Wedding Season in Cambodia
Weddings everywhere. You hear the gongs and music that accompany the various rites in the Cambodian wedding.
Weddings are supposed to be 3-day events given 3 as an auspicious number. |
Mark your calendar for 2011. It will be on November 9-12. Bon Om Teuk or the Water and Full Moon Festival is again highly successful this 2010 with 420 boats participating in the long boat race and between 3-4 million people attending the event. The lantern parade and fireworks are spectacular. In the evening, the streets are full and people just lay down their mats in the park, cook their food there and sleep to the noise of the band playing on stage.
